Karl Rogozenski has taken a position with Catholic Charities of the Piedmont in Greenville. He has been an event coordinator with the City of Greer for the past four years.
The Freedom Blast on June 30 will be Rogozenski’s final day. He has been employed with the city since May 2008. He has moved to Greer and will continue to make it his home.
“The Senior Care job is a calling for me,” Rogozenski said. “Seniors, in my opinion, are a forgotten commodity. They got us to where we are today and sometimes they are overlooked.”
Rogozenski will oversee three programs in place and his responsibilities will include more activities and mentoring programs at Catholic Charities.
“We have (Senior Companions) that continues the lifestyle of the seniors through Bon Secours St. Francis St. Francis Health System,” Rogozenski said. “We have Elder Buddies matches up kids k5 through the fifth grade with a person. The third program is Second Time Around where grandparents raise grandchildren.”
Although the programs are Catholic-based, Rogozenski said he will be traveling to upstate communities inviting their participation.
Rogozenski said the move was an opportunity. “I was hired to fulfill a purpose with the city and it was a wonderful job. The facilities are great and they have been embraced by the community and with the Chamber. I’ve been very pleased to have the opportunity to work with the city.”
Rogozenski begins his new job with the Catholic Charities of the Piedmont on July 5.
