Sam Childers received his Eagle rank at Memorial United Methodist Church on Nov. 22.

Childers’ Eagle service project was building shelves for food storage for Greer Relief. The total project included over 150 hours with 13 volunteers and was completed on July 17.

Childers was first a Cub Scout earning his Arrow of Light in Pack 646 and then joined Troop 107. He’s a member of the Order of the Arrow, completed STEM Nova Shoot and earned the National Camping Award. Childers earned 49 merit badges, a Troop 107 record.

Childers attends T.C. Roberson High School in Asheville.

Childers’ parents Stephen and Shannon, sister, Katie, and fellow scouts, Evan McLeod of Greer Relief, and Rev. Joseph Curtis of MUMC Pastor attended the ceremony.

Troop 107 meets Monday nights 7-8:30 p.m. at the Scout Hut located at 102 West Church Street.
