SC Ports operations online, gates open including Inland Port Greer

SC Ports operations are online and gates are now open, the SCPA announced at 2:42 p.m. Tuesday.

 Cargo pickups and dropoffs are now accepted at all  marine terminals and Inland Port Greer.

SC Ports’ operating system is up and running and vessels are being worked in the terminal, according to the SCPA, but gate trafffic at all ports continue closed.

SCPA has been reporting gates would be open as of Monday morning, but continues updating gates remained closed and no certain time for reopening is foreseen for Tuesday. Gates didn't reopen after weekend closures.

"We are making significant progress on resuming gates. We will notify our maritime partners and motor carriers as soon as possible when cargo pick up and drop offs can occur," the SCPA reported Tuesday mornng.

Ports scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Tuesday

South Carolina Ports will fully resume operations at its marine terminals and inland ports at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, the S.C.Ports Authority announced Monday evening.

SC Ports is working diligently to reintroduce systems following a vendor software issue that impacted a server. This is a fluid situation, and we will communicate any changes, SCPA announced. Please frequently monitor this post on scspa.com for updates.

We plan to offer extended gate hours to continue efficiently handling the flow of cargo in support of our customers. We will communicate these times soon, SCPA announced.

Ports delay opening, reportedly for software, server issues

Greer Inland Port, and all marine and other inland ports (Port Dillon) have delayed opening until 10 a.m. Monday.

The South Carolina Ports. Authority announced Initial findings show that a software issue impacted a server. This does not appear to be a cybersecurity issue, according to the SCPA notice.

Port Greer typically is open for cargo and pickup, but SCPA reported none will occur until as early as Monday morning.

The SCPA notice to its customers read: “SC Ports is working to resume operations as quickly as possible. Reopening is currently set for 10 a.m. (Monday) at all terminals. Please frequently monitor this post …  for updates and confirmed opening time as this is a fluid situation.

“SC Ports is working closely with its vendor to swiftly resume operations. We will communicate all updates to our maritime partners, customers and community members as information becomes available,” the announcement concluded.

BMW is a primary vendor at Port Greer.
