Greer Middle College (GMC) Student Ambassadors club is hosting an awareness and fundraising event on Monday, March 19 from 6-9 p.m. at GMC.
The event will include booths with representatives from SC Youth Advocate Program, Heartfelt Calling, Thornwell, Miracle Hill, The Bair Foundation, Care2Foster, the SC Foster Parent Association, and SAFY.
A panel discussion will be held and open for questions on each program.
GMC students will be collecting donations of duffel bags, blankets, hygiene items, and gift cards to create bags for children in foster care through Thornwell and SCFPA's “Pack a Sack” initiative.
“The Middle College National Consortium's student leadership program encourages student leaders across the country to get involved with social justice issues in their local communities,” Student Ambassador advisor Megan Schonhar said.
The national topic focuses on youth and vulnerable housing. The students pursued a project on foster care because of the need for quality foster parents and families in South Carolina.
Childcare will be provided during the panel discussion. Visit greermiddlecollege.org to register.
