The Strip Club 104 A Steak House is ranked No. 4 as the best overall restaurant in South Carolina and is ranked in the top five in three other categories, according to Open Table South Carolina.

Jason Clark, chef and operator of the restaurant at 104 E. Poinsett Street, also had The Strip Club 104 ranked:

• No. 2 for best steak

• No. 3 for best value

• No. 4 for overall cuisine.

BIN112, a fine dining restaurant, also operated by Clark, at 112 Trade Street, is ranked No. 5 by Open Table in the state for best value.

Open Table ranks restaurants based on reviews by diners.

“What else can I say but I’m proud,” Clark said. “I realize this (list) changes and customer reviews effect the rankings. But what this says is here we are in Greer, South Carolina and we are providing our customers excellent food and value.”

The Strip Club 104 is ranked higher in the top 10 than five others from the coast that typically earn higher ratings than inland restaurants.

“The restaurants on the coast is the place to get your fine quality food,” Clark said. “That’s because it’s a tourist destination. But what these rankings also say, is I have the fifth best grill cook in the state.”

Reviews, mostly done by customers through social media, have kept Clark’s restaurants, The Strip Club 104 and BIN112 atop the top of the best-rated restaurants.

“When BIN112 opened there was no iPhone, twitter and all the other social media options out there now,” Clark said. “Social media can be your worst enemy and your best friend. We have a loyal group of customers and I’m thankful for their support.”

Clark opens The Strip Club 104 for lunch on Fridays only. Within two hours he will sell more than 200 Angus steak burgers to diners who begin to wait in line, about a block long, for 90 minutes before the noon opening. The restaurant is open nightly.

Clark, who lives in downtown Greer with his wife, Lori, was the 2014 Restaurateur of the Year for the Upstate by the South Carolina Hospitality Association.
