Ben Shelton, U.S. Pastry Chef of the Year, will demonstrate his craft Sept. 4 at Culinard in Greenville.
Ben Shelton’s winning creation, "Origins," consisted of three components: a chocolate oriented showpiece and blown sugar; an entremet comprised of chocolate, passion fruit, banana and hazelnut layers; and praline bonbons.
Shelton received first place honors and was named U.S. Pastry Chef of the Year at the 24th Annual U.S. Pastry Competition. Shelton’s winning creation, “Origins,” which consisted of three components: a chocolate oriented showpiece and blown sugar; an entremet comprised of chocolate, passion fruit, banana and hazelnut layers; and praline bonbons.
“We are excited to have Chef Shelton come speak to our students and prospective students and demonstrate his love of pastry arts to them,” said Chef Mark Bergstrom, program director of Culinard in Greenville. “Chef Shelton’s appearance is something everyone is looking forward to seeing and his demonstration is sure to be a first class lesson in pastry expertise.”
