Greer High School had a rough season-opening game Friday night at Dooley Field.
Westside beat the Yellow Jackets 38-10 with quarterback Jackson Williamson passing for 168 yards and two touchdowns and Paul Johnson running for 109 yards and two touchdowns.
Greer could only get a 27-yard TD run by Ta’merica “Dre” Williams in the first quarter and a Trey Houston field goal.
Westside took the lead for good when Traye Carson caught a pass from Williamson and completed the 42-yard scoring play for a 16-10 lead.
Andres Toro kicked a 26-yard field goal for Greer and Chance Poore a 36-yarder for Westside.
It was Greer’s first opening game loss in three years.
The Yellow Jackets, uncharacteristically, gave up 405 yards to its 263 gained offensively.
