The majority of the students were in kindergarten, first grade and second grade, according to Beth Brotherrton with Greenville County Schools. Principal Jane Mills called parents Wednesday morning to inform them of the illness.
School and district maintenance crews did additional cleaning Wednesday afternoon, including changing air filters, Brotherton said.
According to Brotherton, parents are being asked to keep children with symptoms of the virus at home at least 24 hours after fever or other symptoms occur, and if possible, to isolate them from others in the home.
