Junior Achievement volunteer, Valerie Thompson, spoke with 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-grade Career Education students taught by Susan Mathewson.

Thompson is teaching three different Junior Achievement courses: 6th grade: It's my Future; 7th grade: It's My Business; 8th grade: Economics for Success. These courses provide students practical information about personal finance and the importance of identifying education and career goals based on a student's skills, interests, and values.

Congratulations to RMS Duke Tip students
Riverside Middle had a record number of students who qualified to take part in the DUKE Talent Identification Program this year.

One hundred and sixty two students were invited to participate. These students will take the SAT or ACT and receive a program guide and newsletters from Duke University. Students who score at the highest level on these tests will be recognized at the state and national level according to their earned scores. Riverside Middle also had many students who just missed qualifying for the program.

To qualify, students had to score at the 95 percent on one or more of a certain group of subtests. Qualifying tests included the following: PASS and MAP for South Carolina students.
