The Sugar Creek Recreation Center polling precinct had a mild turnout this morning with one voter saying the process – sign in to voting – only took 17 minutes.
A voter at the Northwood precinct reported it took and hour and fifteen minutes to vote. The single line wrapped around the gymnasium.
The Palmetto Project promotes South Carolina's voter registration or turnout. Since 1992, South Carolina has set a record every two years either for increased voter registration or turnout, according to its website.
"It's raw out here," said a man leaving Riverside High School. The weather was expected to clear by mid-afternoon with temperaures remaining in the 40s with a brisk wind making it feel colder.
Lines were already formed at Sugar Creek Recreation Center and Riverside High School began to back up at 9:30 a.m. with one voter saying the process took her 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Praise Cathedral on Brushy Creek Road reportedly had a minimum – 15 minute – wait and Pleasant Grove Church, on Hwy. 14 South, was moving smoothly.
There was a 45-minute wait at Northwood Baptist, with 75-100 voters already going the process by 10 a.m.
