Washington Center student Zachary Satterfield practices bowling skills with his classroom Para-Professional Lucy Floyd during his class’ Community Based Instruction activity.
The class took a trip to Starlanes Bowling. Through bowling expeditions, the class gets to experience sharpening gross and fine motor skills, social interaction, along with practicing appropriate behavior in the community setting. The students are given the chance to communicate their needs and wants in a real life setting, by using a variety of voice output devices.
These experiences have been productive in making students aware of social skills and local leisure opportunities.
