Mike Godfrey, with one year behind him as a Zaxby's franchisee, can better forecast how each day of the year relates to customer sales.
Zaxby's first anniversary was clear to everyone passing the fast food restaurant on Wade Hampton Blvd.
Daily specials are being touted for the fall football season.
Mike and Tarra Godfrey opened the restaurant at 920 W. Wade Hampton Blvd., within the first month of the high school, college and NFL seasons. That created an instant audience with the Greer and Blue Ridge high school crowds on Friday nights.
“They are a good group together and just want somewhere to hang out,” said manager Mary Dana Gray. “We’ve extended our hours to midnight (on Friday) to give them time to come here and eat.”
Godfrey lives in Blue Ridge and shares his loyalties between both schools.
Super Bowl Sunday proved to be an enormous day for carryouts, specifically chicken wing platters. “We weren’t quite ready for that last year because we’ve never experienced it. We are this year. That turned out to be our biggest day of the year in sales," Godfrey said.
The fast food chain, headquartered in Georgia, agreed in May to a two-year sponsorship with 25 colleges in six conferences – ACC, SEC, Big 12, Big Ten, Conference USA and Sun Belt – which covers their football and basketball teams located in states where Zaxby’s has franchises. Zaxby’s has a separate agreement with Clemson University football and basketball teams.
Zaxby’s promotion “The Official Chicken of College Sports” has aired on college broadcasts and its promotion is prominent in all restaurants.
