Greer and Riverside high schools and North Greenville University will have sports memorabilia at the restaurant.
The Godfreys have made known their wishes to operate a Zaxby’s franchise for several years. When the Greer location became available Mike and Tarra vigorously pursued the opportunity. Terra is the owner of Chelsea’s Lady Apparel on Trade Street. Mike is a former beverage salesman.
The fast casual restaurant will employ over 50 during the opening weeks. Last week the corporate trainers were in to teach the crews the “Zaxby’s Way” from cleanliness, customer service, cooking and operating the equipment and point of sales technology. There was a pool of 300 applicants seeking jobs at the store.
“The bar is set high and we want people to come in and have a good experience,” Mike Godfrey said. “Residents have shown great support for the brand, and I see this area as a great opportunity to expand the business.”
Godfrey mentioned the good fortune of Zaxby’s opening along the Wade Hampton Boulevard corridor several blocks from Kohl’s, opening in 2013, and virtually across the street from the renovated Greer Plaza parking lot and South Carolina’s first Walmart Neighborhood Market due to open late December or January.
The signature menu includes chicken fingers, Buffalo wings, sandwiches, and salads. Two limited time offers will be available to customers. The Birthday Milkshake and Round House Salad will remain on the menu.
The price point for each check is between $7.50 and $8.50 per person.
Zaxby’s will seat 78 in the 3,500-square-foot location that formerly housed a Burger King. A drive-thru window is available and takeout is available. Catering is also being offered.
“This has been a huge adventure and we’re expecting a lot of traffic,” Mike said.
The Greer Zaxby’s is the second, the first is on Batesville Road near the Parkway, and the 13th in Greenville County.
