North Greenville University’s REVEAL – research, examine, verify, educate, assist and liberate – is an annual service day, one Saturday every spring and is hosted by NGU’s Baptist Student Union. Jody Jennings, Director of Baptist Student Union and NGU student Phillip Black led the group this year.
REVEAL works alongside other ministries in Greenville, such as Camp Marietta, Miracle Hill, and the Women’s Clinic. Some impact teams have worked at sports camps.
Greer Bancshares Incorporated (GRBS), the parent company of Greer State Bank, today reported the removal of a consent order issued through the FDIC and the Commissioner of Banking.
“There were a lot high fives when I got that letter (Friday) and opened it,” said George W. Burdette, President and CEO of Greer Bancshares Incorporated and Greer State Bank. “It was a great feeling and recognition from the regulators what we have done.”
Blue Ridge High School’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) presents the 17th Annual Farm Day at the Lindsey Plantation on April 20 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The free event showcases the best of the Blue Ridge area.
The event is managed by Blue Ridge students and volunteers who oversee hay rides, animal exhibits and a plant sale.

Wesley Lawton Neely, husband of the late Jean Littlejohn Neely, died Friday, March 8, 2013. He was born March 17, 1932, in Spartanburg County, and was the son of the late K.E. and Mamie Lawton Neely. He was a graduate of Wofford College, a Veteran of the U.S. Army during Korean War, an Eagle Scout and former owner of Neely's Inc. in Greenville, S.C.
Mark Nichols, owner of Taylors Windows and Screen, has come up with “Windows of Opportunity” to fulfill a need at the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville.
“We were actually brainstorming for ideas here locally to give back to our community when we received a call from the Ronald McDonald House. They wanted to purchase some windows to update their facility and we just had a close family friend that recently stayed at the Ronald McDonald House for almost two weeks while their child had brain surgery to remove a cancerous tumor and recover in NYC. So, we decided to come up with some ‘Windows of Opportunity,’” Nichols said.
Margaret Stegall of Greenville and Helena Sullivan of Easley qualified for the national championship and the Bob Jones Academy Forensic Team was named State 1-A Champions in Speech and Debate for the seventh consecutive year.
The South Carolina Forensic Coaches Association’s Speech and Debate Championship was held in North Charleston. Bob Jones Academy finished third overall.

Emma Ritter of Taylors was named winner of the Concerto Competition at Valparaiso University.
As part of this honor, Ritter, a sophomore, earned the opportunity to perform with Valparaiso University’s Chamber Concert Band last month.
