Greer High School Principal Marion Waters made a surprise visit to Dooley Field tonight and claimed his traditional seat next to the field house at Dooley Field.
Waters had double heart bypass surgery on Oct. 6 and has been recuperating at home. Waters was greeted by head football coach Will Young before the game and others who had been long-time supporters.
Former Blue Ridge High School quarterback Caleb Rowe is among the last standing in a battle of attrition at Maryland and will reportedly make his first collegiate start Saturday at Boston College.
Rowe, a freshman, was a three-year starter at Blue Ridge and signed with Maryland in February.

The Region II-3A football championship has come down to the final week of the season and has several championship scenarios still in play.
Just as it did in the former Peach Blossom 3A Region a year ago, Friday night's game between Greer and Blue Ridge could determine the region champion and top seed from the conference heading into the Class 3A playoffs.
Fresh off its win at the SCDBA Class 3A Upper State Championships, the Blue Ridge Corps of Cadets marching band will attempt to claim its eighth state title Saturday at Batesburg-Leesville High School.

The Blue Ridge football team entered uncharted territory with a 33-20 Region II-3A win over visiting Pickens on Senior Night.
According to school officials, the Tigers are 9-0 for the first time in school history and control their fate in next week's showdown with Greer for the Region II-3A title.

Greer and Blue Ridge are swapping football opponents this week in Week 9 of the high school season. While both teams have one more day to be focused on other teams, they will still be listening for Friday's scores for another measuring stick.
Greer beat Pickens (42-20) which is Blue Ridge's opponent Friday and Southside fell to the Tigers (31-0) last week.

Cory Dogan's final season of high school football will end with an emphatic statement, just as it began.
Dogan, recovered from offseason shoulder surgery, missed Blue Ridge's season opener, but took his usual place in the lineup in Week 2 against J.L. Mann. "On the first play from scrimmage, Dogan intercepted a pass near midfield as if to tell teammates and opponents alike, "I'm baaaa-aaack."
When the Blue Ridge Tigers take the field at Friday night home games, they are greeted by the work of a team of volunteers.
Before each varsity home game, the volunteers spend their Wednesday evenings lining the field and spray painting the Tigers logo at midfield.
