Students who exhibit qualities consistent with the school's mission are nominated on a monthly basis by each department for Tiger of the Month.
LeBrian Shiflet and Dre Terry, the top two scorers on the Greer boys basketball team this season, have been named to the All-Region III-3A team.
Shiflet was named to the Class 3A All-State team last week. Shiflet averaged 27 points per game and Terry 14 to provide Greer a 1-2 scoring punch throughout the season.
Greer High School junior LaBrian Shiflet was named to the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association All-State team today. Shiflet was Greer's leading scorer averaging about 27 points a game. He was the team's leading scorer in all but one game this season.
Greer was eliminated from the playoffs Tuesday night at Fort Mill.
Members of the Blue Ridge High School FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) chapter received recognition in several competitive events at the FBLA District One Conference held at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill on Saturday, Feb. 3.
The competitive events were part of a one-day program for FBLA members in the Upstate. Competitions consisted of pre-judged products, student presentations and testing of subject knowledge. The chapter had twenty-three members attending the one-day conference.
Greer’s boys basketball team will begin play in the State 3A playoffs just as coach Jeff Neely wanted, coming off a small, but nonetheless, a two-game winning streak.
The Yellow Jackets, the No. 3 seed in Region III will play at Fort Mill Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Greer is 14-11 and Fort Mill, the No. 2 seed in Region IV is 16-7.
Erin Frost isn’t one to wait around nervously for the Miss Greater Greer pageant scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Greer High School. The Wofford College junior will be playing a basketball game against Western Carolina University at 2 p.m. in Spartanburg.
Frost has averaged 12 minutes and played in all 24 games.
The 6th annual Miss Blue Ridge Relay for Life Pageant, sponsored by the Air Force Junior ROTC unit at Blue Ridge High School, will be held March 3, 6-8 p.m., at the Blue Ridge High School Auditorium.
Last year's pageant, with 18 girls participating, raised $2,050 toward the final school total of more than $4,750. The goal this year is $2,500.
