The entry deadline for “The Magic of Christmas” Greer parade is Tuesday. The Greer Jaycees annual parade is Sunday at 3 p.m. Lineup for the parade at the Clock Restaurant at Poinsett Street begins at 2 p.m.
The Greer and Blue Ridge High School marching bands, beauty queens, organizations and businesses will participate in the parade. Santa Claus will make an appearance.
A Starry Night Gala is scheduled for Saturday Feb. 11 at Greer City Hall. The dinner, dance and auction will be a fundraiser for the Horace McKown Center and the Greer Cultural Arts Council.
Purchasing a ticket for $65 before Jan. 11 entitles the buyer to a free ticket to Hairspray plus an early bird ticket prize drawing worth $300. Tickets will be $75 after Feb. 1.

Greater Greer is throwing a holiday party that begins tonight with the Christmas tree lighting and Santa’s visit at City Park and lasts through the New Year.
The City of Greer Christmas weekend begins at 6 p.m. with guests roasting marshmallows over fire pits. The Foothills Philharmonic Orchestra will perform and the reading of “The Night Before Christmas” is scheduled at the amphitheater.
