The Greer Police Department has issued a warning that spectators with masks or Halloween-type bags will be prohibited to Dooley Field for Friday night’s 7:30 game pitting rivals Blue Ridge and Greer.
“It’s already a big rivalry and Halloween makes it all the more challenging,” said Sgt. Chad Richardson. “We will be watching closely as fans enter and during the game for violations.”
Five suspended Blue Ridge High School athletes turned themselves in to the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center Friday to face assault charges.
They were charged with assault and battery by a mob for an incident on Tuesday at the high school.
Business leaders, attorneys, a municipal judge, a city councilman and others joined host, the Greer Police Department, in the Cops for Tots Charity Golf tournament Thursday.
The tournament at the Greer Country Club is the main fundraiser for the GPD. Proceeds are used to purchase gifts for under privileged children in need in the greater Greer area.
Passengers at GSP could have easily surmised a gun and knife show was being held Wednesday at the baggage claim area.
Instead the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) had a display table of grenades, guns, knives, a power drill, tools and liquids that were among the 100 pounds of abandoned property during the past 30 days at Greenville-Spartanburg International.

The Greer Christmas Parade is scheduled Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2:30 p.m.
The theme is "Spirit in Christmas" in Greer. The parade route, 1.1 miles, begins at Poinsett Street and Memorial Drive and ends at N. Main Street and Cunningham Drive.
Roads will be closed to vehicular traffic in downtown Greer from 6 a.m. Saturday until 1 a.m. Sunday for the annual Oktoberfest.
