The new sign is aluminum, half with Bullock’s Barber Shop with black type over a white background and the other half with a red, white and blue Pepsi logo. The signage is centered over Bullock’s awning.
Thirteen automated external defibrillators (AED) have been purchased by Greer City Parks and Recreation aimed at dramatically closing the gap between life and death in cardiac arrest events.
The AEDs are mounted inside security cabinets in city facilities and all are compatible with EMS units in Greenville and Spartanburg counties. Once emergency personnel arrive, they can continue using the AED unit or plug the paddles into their unit.
Golfers are invited to participate in the 10th Annual Cops for Tots Charity Golf tournament scheduled Thursday, Oct. 23 at Greer Country Club.
The Greer Police Department annually sponsors the tournament, its major fundraiser, to purchase gifts for under privileged children in need in the greater Greer area. The GPD invites families to submit applications for the Cops for Tots program based on family income. More than 300 families are helped annually.

The annual Take It Back expired and unused prescription drugs campaign sponsored by the Greer Police Department is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The drugs may be dropped off at Walgreen’s Pharmacy at 1232 W. Wade Hampton Blvd. or Professional Pharmacy at 320 Memorial Drive.

Greer Police have identified a Greer man who died Sunday when he was hit by a Norfolk Southern train between Moore and Poinsett Street.
James Martin Bruton, 49, was struck by the locomotive about 2:30 p.m. Police report Bruton was located lying along side the tracks approximately 20 feet from the rails.
Body-worn cameras are now part of a dozen Greer Police Department officers’ wardrobe.
Six months after testing three manufacturers’ models, Police Chief Dan Reynolds, on Friday, ordered the cameras distributed to two patrol divisions on alternating shifts. The cameras cost $3,000 ($250 each plus air cards) and data storage is $86,000. “We worked the logistics out of the testing, determining what type of camera we would use and type of storage needed,” Reynolds said.
A fraud alert has been issued by Greer Commission of Public Works (CPW) warning customers of callers attempting to obtain customer account or personal information.
CPW reports customers may receive phone calls from individuals identifying themselves as Greer CPW employees. In some cases, the customer’s caller identification will display Greer CPW’s name or phone number. The caller attempts to obtain customer account or personal information.
