Greer and Simpsonville are partnering with the S.C. Attorney General’s office to establish domestic violence courts beginning Oct. 8, according to an announcement generated by the City of Greer communications department.
The courts will be in session the second Thursday of each month beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Greer and 1:30 p.m. in Simpsonville.
The 4th annual Greer Police Department softball tournament is Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Century B Park (Kids Planet) on Brushy Creek Road.
Eleven law enforcement and public safety teams will play in the one-day, double elimination tournament.
With local schools opening their doors to students for a new school year, the Greer Police Department and the National Safety Council are partnering to remind parents and commuters that it’s important to slow down and pay extra attention.
“The school year can change drastically change a commute for a driver who passes through multiple school zones each day,” GPD Sgt. Randle Ballenger, said. “It’s easy to fall into the habit of maintaining regular speeds in those zones after the summer break.
