This male subject entered BB&T Bank at 3255 Wade Hampton Boulevard.and presented a note demanding cash.
Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office are probing today’s robbery at BB&T at 3255 Wade Hampton Boulevard.
The initial 911 call came in at around 1:15 p.m. after employees stated that a male subject entered BB&T and presented a note demanding cash, according to Lieutenant Ryan Flood of the GCSO.
Flood reported witnesses initially provided deputies a description of the suspect and the vehicle he got into. Deputies subsequently stopped that vehicle matching the description, however after further investigation, investigators determined that person was not involved and has since released him, according to Flood.
No injuries were reported from the incident and the suspect fled the bank without any money, according to Flood,
Today’s bank robbery was eerily similar to last month’s bank robbery at Bank of Travelers Rest at 6000 Wade Hampton Blvd. That robbery was investigated by the Greer Police Department.
• Both bank robberies were on the 29th of each month: December and January.
• Both were on Wade Hampton Blvd., the main road connecting Greer and Taylors to Greenville and Spartanburg counties.
• The banks were 3 miles/5 minutes apart.
• Both were in the afternoon, today was around 1:15 p.m. and last month’s was about 3:25 p.m.
Greer police connected the Bank of Travelers Rest robbery to two restaurants – Sub Station II at 801 Wade Hampton Blvd., and Waffle House at 705 North Main Street. No arrests have been reported.
