Updated Tuesday,  Dec. 27

James William Ogle, 56, of Wellford has been charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, discharging a weapon within city limits, and unlawful carrying of a pistol.

Monday, Dec. 26

The Greer Police Department responded to a disturbance involving a person who fired a handgun at a convenience store Monday night.

Captain Patrick Fortenberry of the GPD said officers were called to the QuikTrip at 1302 W. Wade Hampton Blvd at 6:40 p.m. Involved parties were located, and the scene secured.

It was determined that a verbal argument occurred over the use of an air pump, and one of the involved parties reached into his vehicle and retrieved a firearm. The subject did then fire the handgun, striking the ground, Fortenberry reported.

There were no injuries as a result of this incident.

The subject who fired the handgun was arrested by officers, and officers were in the process of obtaining warrants, Fortenberry reported.
