Around 9 a.m. a Greenville County Sheriff’s Office deputy, who was working an off-duty assignment at Walmart on White Horse Road, was alerted that a man, later identified as Lylique Zyquan Lionel Alston, presented a note to a cashier demanding money.
When Alston observed the deputy, he left Walmart, got into a vehicle, and drove away. When deputies initiated a traffic stop on Alston, he refused to pull over and ran from law enforcement. Alston left without obtaining any money. No weapons were displayed, and no injuries were reported.
Investigators later learned Alston proceeded to commit similar acts in a Walmart in Simpsonville and Laurens County. Working with investigators with those agencies, Alston was identified and later apprehended by Laurens County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Alston was charged with failure to stop for blue lights and robbery.
Alston is being held in the Laurens County Detention Center on their respective charges.
