Officer involved shooting in Greenville, K9 stabbed

Just before 3 p.m. Monday deputies within the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Warrant’s Division were assisting the Department of Homeland Security with a warrant service on a suspect with an active warrant.

Deputies made contact with the suspect outside at Woodlawn Cemetery located at 1 Pine Knoll Drive where a K9 engaged with a suspect who stabbed the dog at least one time.

Subsequently an officer involved shooting occurred and the suspect was shot at least once. Preliminary information reveals 3 deputies fired. The suspect was transported to the hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries are unknown.

The Sheriff’s Office K9 was taken to an emergency vet. His condition is unknown at this time. 

As standard with all officer Involved Shootings SLED has been requested to investigate and all further questions will be deferred to their agency.
