The former Allen Bennett Hospital is nearly completely razed.

Only the hospital extension adjacent to Memorial Drive and the rear emergency room entrance remains to be demolished and the material removed. The Roger Huntington Nursing Home has been cleared

Last June, when council approved the demolition bid, City Administrator Ed Driggers said people wanting a brick as a memento will be invited to take one after they have been palletized.

The 10-acre property will be marketed for multi-purpose, retail and residential, mixed use by the Greer Development Corporation.

The NEO Corporation was approved for the demolition and removal of the structure not to exceed $790,000.
