Benton Blount performs with a chance to win $1 million on "America's Got Talent".
Benton Blount's fans earned him a "save" into this week's finals.
This is the 10th anniversary of the show and the winner will be announced on Wednesday night.
Benton, 35, a stay-at-home dad, made it into the finals after a huge save two weeks ago by fan voting. Benton and nine other contestants perform starting at 8 p.m.
Blount, who lives in Greenville, played high school football until he found his passion for music while singing at his local church. He is a native of Valdese N.C. He and his wife, Ashley, have one son and are expecting. Benton has a local following by performing throughout the greater Greer area in venues and festivals.
Nick Cannon hosts this variety competition series which features a colorful array of hopeful future stars as they perform for the chance to win the $1 million prize. AGT judges have been responsive with positive feedback throughout Blount’s performances. Celebrity judges Howie Mandel, Mel B Heidi Klum, and Howard Stern will judge the final night with musical star Flo Rida as a guest performer.
Blount considers his fans his friends and keeps his lifestyle transparent for them on social media. He communicates with them often, using apps such as Facebook Mentions and Periscope to chat live. He has posted photos and memes from fans showing support with signs, T-shirts and viewing parties.
Prediction site Goldderby.com has Blount ranked in the number eight spot out of 10.
