Blue Ridge FBLA members recognized at District One event

Members of the Blue Ridge High School FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) chapter received recognition in several competitive events at the FBLA District One Conference held at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill on  Saturday, Feb. 3.  

The competitive events were part of a one-day program for FBLA members in the Upstate.  Competitions consisted of pre-judged products, student presentations and testing of subject knowledge.  The chapter had twenty-three members attending the one-day conference.  

The members placed in the following events:  Business Ethics, Business Presentation, Emerging Business Issues, Business Math, E-Business, Digital Video Production, Digital Design and Promotion, and Impromptu Speaking. Students will be competing against other students from across the state at the annual FBLA State Conference held in Charleston, SC in March 2012.

For more than 60 years, FBLA has helped middle and high school students successfully make the school-to-career transition.  FBLA produces results, including:  Character and Leadership, good citizenship, financial management skills, and global marketing knowledge.  

The Blue Ridge High chapter of FBLA is led by Stephanie Casey and Derek Wells and has 36 active members.  Chapter officers are Rob Battenfield, president; Jaci Wilkerson, vice president; Taylor Bowen, secretary; Shaun Belue, treasurer; and Raven Mathewes, reporter, Alyson Craig, historian and Robert Augustin, parliamentarian.
