The new generation X5, produced at BMW Manufacturing plant in Greer, has hit the showrooms. The new X4 is scheduled for launch in 2014.
The company is in the midst of a 2-year, $900 million expansion, adding the new BMW X4 and completing construction of an additional1.6 million square feet of production and logistics space.
“Additional team members are needed immediately to support our future model strategy, that will now include four BMW models,” said Manfred Erlacher, President of BMW Manufacturing. “BMW’s projected global sales forecast is very encouraging. An increase in staffing is required to respond to this continued, strong global demand.”
Sky Foster, Department Manager for Corporate Communications, said that the new jobs will be hired by MAU, Inc., BMW Manufacturing’s contract staffing partner.
BMW expects that the addition of these jobs will bring the total number at the plant in Greer to nearly 8,000 on-site by the end of 2014. BMW’s current investment in South Carolina has recently exceeded $6 Billion since 1992, when the plant was first announced.
Qualified applicants should attend the job fair at Spartanburg Community College (Middle Tyger Campus) on Monday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Applicants can also apply online here. These jobs include health, dental, 401(k) and vacation benefits, according to the BMW Manufacturing announcement.
