Executives from the company, key customers, and local dignitaries attended the opening ceremony for the 156,000 square-foot LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) facility located at 140 Caliber Ridge Road.
The distribution center adds more than 50 new associates located in the state.
At the Greer site, associates will receive, store and ship more than 50,000 different products for video surveillance, intrusion and fire detection, access control and management systems, as well as professional audio and conference systems.
Product kits will be created to support light assembly for customer-specific projects.
The facility is designed around a Lean Logistics concept to allow for a flexible product storage design and standardized processing, which ensures speed and accuracy for fulfilling orders for customers across North and South America. The site will also serve as a regional technical training center for Bosch Security Systems customers.
“With the successful opening of our distribution center, we are leveraging synergies with multiple Bosch facilities in the state and benefitting from close proximity to the South Carolina Inland Port,” Christopher Gerace, regional president, Bosch Security Systems, said. “This will allow us to enhance our service to customers through greater efficiency and flexibility.”
Bosch Security Systems employs more than 12,000 associates worldwide. The company is a division of the Bosch Group, a leading global supplier of technology and services that already employs more than 4,000 associates among four facilities throughout South Carolina.
Bosch is one of four 150,000-plus square warehouses that built at Caliber Ridge. The industrial park is at I-85 and State 101 across from the BMW manufacturing plant and close to the new South Carolina Inland Port.
