Greer Police Chief Dan Reynolds was called into action placing toys into a child-like order.
Volunteers from the GPD, its Citizens Academy and city staff spent the day organizing the city's arts center for the children’s walk through the building selecting toys they want.
The Syl Syl Toy Drive at Clock Restaurant annually kicks off cops for Tots in November. Citizens, businesses and companies donate toys and monies to assure children in need from the Greer area have a Christmas.
The children are escorted individually with a law enforcement person, city official and volunteers through a maze of toys and allowed to look at the unwrapped and unopened items before making their selections.
Parents and family members wait outside for the children.
Lt. Jim Holcombe said toys are still being accepted and donations are welcome throughout the holidays to help pay for the toys bought by the police department's Cops for Tots fund. Bring toys to 102 S. Main Street or call 864-848-2151 for more information.
