Patrick Sauerland, left, of InSite Real Estate, and Cott Plant Manager Will Wise presented the expansion at the Planning Advisory Committee Thursday.
Part of the expansion will include 1,800 square feet for additional office space to accommodate the transfer of its logistics staff from a warehouse leased in Taylors. That lease is expiring.
The manufacturing facility houses a juice storage and processing, bottling and warehousing space.
Patrick Sauerland, Project Manager from InSite, an Illinois Real Estate firm, and Cott Plant Manager Will Wise presented the company’s expansion plans at the Planning Advisory Committee session Thursday at City Hall.
Glenn Pace, City Planning and Zoning Coordinator, said no permits have been filed and no costs have been attached to the expansion. Wise said he had an estimate from three years ago that hasn’t been updated.
“We won’t be adding any more employees than our logistics team,” Wise said.
Cott Beverages is one of the largest independent private label juice and beverage companies in the United States. It manufactures apple, cranberry, grape, lemon, pineapple prune and tomato juices. The company’s web site also said it provides tea, cranberry blends, lemonades, orange drinks, grapefruit, thirst quenchers, cocktail mixers and coffee syrups.
“Drinks at Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club and convenience stores are manufactured by Cott,” Wise said. “You can’t go into a grocery store without finding a drink made by Cott.”
The expansion will be focused on logistics and the building will be assembled toward the back of the site, but not more than six feet within the peach orchard. Landscaping will be required in the front on Hood Road according to ordinance but no sidewalks or traffic study will be required.
