Marjorie Dowd has resigned as President/CEO of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce effective immediately. She has only served since March 1.

The Executive Board of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce announced that Katie Collins, current Vice President of Operations, will serve as interim President/CEO.

“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Marjorie for her contributions to the organization, and we wish her the best in her future endeavors,” said chamber board chairman Mikelle Porter. “We also thank Katie for her leadership during this time of transition.”

Dowd was hired when a nationwide search committee suggested Dowd had the credentials to fulfill a growth spurt at the Greer Chamber. She previously served as the Director of Education and Economic Development at Greenville County Schools since 2010.

Collins has been at the Greer Chamber since October 2013. She graduated the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree focused in advertising, minor in and a minor in psychology.

Should a new leader for the Greer Chamber be found this year, it will be the third President/CEO in one year. Mark Owens resigned Dec. 1 to become President and CEO of the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Chamber of Commerce.
