City Administrator Ed Driggers has an annual leadership book club.
Each year Driggers gives a book to his leadership team consisting of supervisors and top department employees.
“The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team” by Patrick Lencioni is this year’s book selection. Driggers said he was impressed to hear Lencioni speak and reviewed some of his works.
The selection is usually based on Driggers’s goal for his staff. Lencioni suggests that more can be achieved as a team than individuals can imagine doing alone.
“I have had the opportunity to hear the author speak and review some of his work,” Driggers told city council members. “Our team is trying to make sure we are functioning the best that we can at every level.”
The ultimate test of a great team is results, the book illustrates.
