Dylan Arms, from Greer, earned a ticket to American Idol’s next round in Hollywood, Calif. He was a seminalist in 2011 Greer Idol and appears at Springwell and greater Greer venues.
Dylan Arms has his second album scheduled for release in April.
Arms, 20, auditioned in Charlotte in November, and that venue was broadcast tonight on FOX. However his appearance was fleeting, despite moving forward.
"I think they showed about one-half second of me at the end when they rolled through others that moved on," Arms said.
Arms said he was asked to prepare for three songs and he performed two. "I sang a song written by Ben Rector, 'Never Going to Let You Go'. I figured he would not be a writer the judges would ordinarily know. The second song was one I wrote, 'One Without You.'"
Ironically, Arms was eliminated in the semifinals of the 2011 Greer Idol won by Dana Jordan. He was a frequent guest artist in the 2012 Greer Idol.
Arms is a singer-songwriter with his musical niche in acoustic, folk and pop. He has been appearing at Springwell and performing in churches and local venues in the greater Greer area.
His debut album, “So Much to Say” was released last August and has songs listed on his website for download on iTunes.
Arms has a second album coming out in April.
He attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities where he studied classical guitar.
