Sarah Adams of Eastside High School has earned an all-expenses paid trip to Miami, Fla., to rehearse and practice with international music icons Placido Domingo and Renee Flemming.
Adams applied to the Young Arts Foundation and was among the students chosen to go on an all-expense paid trip to Miami for a week of rehearsals and performances, Jan. 5-13, with the opera icons. Adams’ performance is scheduled Monday, Jan. 8.
The voice discipline is made up of eight categories: soprano, mezzo-soprano, contralto, tenor, baritone, bass, jazz and popular. A panel of artists reviewed the submission looking for a performance that indicated a background of musical study, and the potential for serious growth, development and individuality. Students were encouraged to avoid the imitation of pop icons and to develop a distinctive style that is particular to their own unique abilities.
Josh Groban is an alumni (1999) of the Young Arts program.
