Elijah Henderson, Blue Ridge High School all-star infielder, has signed with Clemson University to continue his baseball career.
Henderson has a three-year batting average of .458 (.500 last year), 82 hits in 179 at bats, 5 home runs, 19 doubles and 5 triples. He has scored 66 runs and has 42 runs batted in.
“I like Clemson because it’s a top academic school and their baseball team is usually one of the top-ranked in the country,” Henderson said.
Wednesday was the official signing day for athletes. Henderson participated in a signing ceremony with teammate Brandon Southern (Toccoa College) in the gymnasium with teammates, cheerleaders, senior classmates and his family.
“Elijah is an incredible talent, has a great work ethic, is an outstanding teammate and outstanding leader,” Blue Ridge Head Baseball Coach Travis Henson said.
Henson said Henderson’s statistics are all the more remarkable with his senior season remaining.
“Henderson will leave Blue Ridge as career leader in several offensive categories,” Henson said.
“We are extremely proud of these two (Henderson and Southern) young men,” Henson said. “They are signing today in a commitment to these respective universities, however, they have been committed to improving daily.
“I have no doubt both Elijah and Brandon will enjoy continued success and will be great competitors at the collegiate level,” Henson said. “Each of these student-athletes are great representatives of their families, their teammates, Blue Ridge High School, and the Blue Ridge Community.”
Henderson is a two-time All-Region and South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All-State (2015, 2016).
