New socks and underwear are continuously in short supply in Sharon’s Closet so Greer Community Ministries (GCM) is trying a new approach to raise funds for these items.
On Thursday and Friday GCM is hosting a $1 donation sale in Sharon’s Closet, the final days before flipping the closet selections from spring and summer to fall and winter clothing. The sale is intended clearing the spring/summer inventory and providing funds for underwear and socks.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on those dates, the public may purchase items of clothing for a $1 donation for each piece.
“We are trying something new to try to keep our supply of new underwear and socks replenished,” Cindy Simpler, Executive Director, said.
“People give to us because we provide clothing to our clients at no cost. The clothing we are asking people to purchase for the dollar donation is seasonal, and we don’t have room to store it until next year.”
Sharon’s Closet will close Sept. 19 - 23 to switch out selections from spring and summer to fall and winter. For more information call 877-1937.
