Jack Lucas, a 27-year banker formerly with BB&T, is the branch manager.
“GrandSouth wanted to build a presence here in Greer and I’ve made my home here and we’ve raised five daughters,” Lucas said. “They have been shopping in Greer for place to build and I have a lot of friends and contacts here.”
A $1.2 million, 5,000-square-foot office is under construction at 955 Wade Hampton Blvd. The tentative date Lucas said the bank will be open for business is October. The bank will have two drive-thru lanes with a third wired if it is needed later.
GrandSouth does not have ATMs. “Our customers can use their cards at any bank and we will pay the usage fees,” Lucas said. “It gives them the convenience of using their cards anywhere in the country. At the end of the day it’s about doing something for our customers.”
“It will be easy to tell people how to find us,” Lucas said. “It’s across the street from Jim Benson’s auto dealership.”
Donna Hughes, of Greer, has been hired to manage the office. Commercial lenders and three customer service/tellers will anchor the staff. “We’re hiring individuals who have strong relationships in Greer,” Lucas said.
“GrandSouth has a desire to be a good community player,” Lucas said. “We are impressing each employee to be good community partners and give back.”
Lucas and his staff are working out of a temporary office, mostly commercial loans, at 501 W. Wade Hampton Blvd., Suite 9A. The office number is 864-527-7161.
GrandSouth has its home office in Greenville and branches in Fountain Inn and Anderson. The bank trades under the GRRB.OTC symbol.
