Greer, Byrnes represented on Shrine Bowl roster

Two Greer players and one from Byrnes have been selected to play for the South Carolina Shrine Bowl team.

Quavian White was selected as a defensive back and Bradley Thompson as an offensive lineman. Khalid Jones of Byrnes was selected as a linebacker.

The 81st Shrine Bowl is scheduled Dec. 16, 2 p.m., at Wofford College.

White has also been a factor in Greer’s offense this season as a running back, receiver, defensive back and a returner for punts and kickoffs.

Thompson is a 6-4, 295-pound offensive lineman for the Yellow Jackets.

Jones is a 6-1, 219 linebacker for Byrnes.

Jake Venables, of Daniel, son of Clemson defensive coordinator Brett Venables, was also selected.

Dorman Head Coach David Gutshall is the head coach for the South Carolina team. Kevin Farmer, a Dorman assistant, will join Gutshall.
