Flowers and a variety of plants will be at the Greer Farmer's market Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Greer Florist parking lot.
Local produce will be featured from nearby growers.
There are 21 vendors scheduled to offer their goods from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Greer Florist parking lot at 105 E. Poinsett Street. Interestingly, founder Cristy Ray and Kyle Mensing, of the Greer Station Association, measured for 20.
“Kyle and I said let’s go for 10 vendors and when we got that we said let’s get 15,” Ray said. “Then we figured we’d get 20 vendors, the most we could get in the space.”
Ray said vendors have been “awesome and said they would double up.”
There is plenty of parking. The BB&T and McLeskey Todd Pharmacy lots, across from the farmer’s market, have plenty of parking, Ray said.
Mensing has been stumping Greer, promoting the market. “There have been interests in the market since we announced it weeks ago,” Mensing told City Council Tuesday night.
The market will run every Thursday from 4-7 p.m. through Oct. 29.
Virtually all upstate markets have closed for the season giving Greer almost absolute access to fresh produce, meat, eggs and other products from nearby growers, Ray said.
“I tried to keep the vendors within a 20-mile radius,” Ray said. “Some vendors drive crazy distances to markets and there are some pretty pricey vendor fees.”
The market was inspiration for Ray. “A person of my personality makes it easy to be engaged,” she said. “It felt like a ball. Once the ball got started rolling, we just chased it.”
