Greer is driving BMW 3Q and 9-month sales reports

BMW reported it has sold more than 300,000 Greer-manufactured vehicles and has helped push brand sales for the quarter and nine-month reporting periods.

 

Greer produced BMW vehicles continue to drive sales despite a 3.8 percent brand decrease in October, according to BMW.

Notable October vehicle sales increases included the X3, which increased 88.1 percent to 3,028, and the X5 increased 27.9 percent to 4,292. Both Sports Activity Vehicles are produced in Greer.

BMW recorded new highs to date for sales volumes, revenues and earnings in the third quarter 2015. These performance indicators also improved for the nine-month period, with new records established in each case.

Sales of BMW brand vehicles decreased in October for a total of 29,439 compared to 30,602 vehicles sold in October, 2014, according to the company’s monthly statement.

Year-to-date, BMW brand is up 4.6 percent from the same period last year with sales of 279,395 vehicles.

“With the all-new BMW X1 just now going on sale and availability of the always popular X3 and X5 improving, we expect good growth in the final two months of the year.” Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America, said.

“Trends in the luxury vehicle market are becoming more evident with the October sales another indicator of how important Sports Activity Vehicles are becoming to our market segment,” Willisch said.

In total, the BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported October sales of 33,526 vehicles, a decrease of 6.6 percent from the 35,902 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, BMW Group sales are up 5.4 percent from the same period last year with 328,456 vehicles sold.

The nine-month report also had impressive numbers:

• X5 rose by 19.8 percent to 125,739 units (2014: 104,997 units).

• X6 jumped 40.5 percent to 32,857 units (2014: 23,394 units).

• X4 launched about a year ago, recorded nine-month sales of 40,920 units (2014: 7,199 units).
