Hurricane Ian forces Greer to postpone weekend festival
The Greer Arts & Eats Festival, scheduled this weekend, has been postponed because of Hurricane Ian's projected path to deliver heavy weekend rain and winds, according to the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce.

Vendors, volunteers, emergency workers and the safety of the public combined to cause for the decision to postpone the event that had been re-branded after the Spring festival, typically scheduled in early May.

Festival officials reportedly are trying to reschedule the event.

David Merhib, President & CEO of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement:

"After monitoring the impact of Hurricane Ian to the Upstate of South Carolina, the Events Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel and reschedule the Greer Arts & Eats Festival based on the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved. We have been in communication with our partners at the City of Greer and together we feel that this is in the best interest of everyone to postpone this festival until a later date, because of safety and weather concerns."
