Datavious (Tay) Jenkins from Blue Ridge High School signed Wednesday with Lenoir-Rhyne University to play football.
Jenkins, 5-foot-9, 162-pounds, played wide receiver for Blue Ridge.
Jenkins is majoring in nursing and said that influenced his decision to play and attend Lenoir-Rhyne. He also had offers from Limestone College and Tusculum College.
During Jenkins’ high school career he totaled more than 2,000 receiving yards, 400 rushing yards, and 22 touchdowns.
"I will miss playing with my younger brother, Vonta, and the guys I grew up with the most," said Jenkins. Vonta Jenkins, a junior, played running back.
Jenkins said he is looking forward to playing in a bigger football atmosphere, higher caliber of competition and to help L-R earn championship rings.
He will join Greer High School offensive lineman Cole Henderson at L-R. Henderson also signed Wednesday.
