Jonathan King is celebrating his first venture into publishing by hosting a book signing Saturday (May 22) at 10 a.m. in Greer City Park.

“Morrigan” is King’s debut as a book author. The book is self-published through Amazon.

King, a native of Greer and circulation librarian at North Greenville University, where he graduated the Honors Program, has been authoring feature stories since first reporting for GreerToday.com. He is a writer and movie critic and publishes a weekly entertainment blog.

“Abel Whittaker is sick of his life as a preacher's kid. Between a father who values appearances more than integrity and a religion of rules, he's desperate for freedom. So, when the new girl in town suggests they run away together, he jumps at the chance,” reads the preview of “Morrigan” on Amazon. “There's just one problem. She's the Celtic goddess of war. Fans of Rick Riordan and Neil Gaiman will love this tale of Celtic gods and monsters in modern day South Carolina, featuring memorable characters, a breakneck pace, and possibly a dead talking fish. Don't miss this epic, magical adventure!”

The paperback is 242 pages.

King wrote one of the most widely read feature stories published on GreerToday about NGU baseball coach Landon Powell and his family relying on faith to carry them through a personal tragedy.
