The team that traveled the greatest distance won the biggest prize at the Sooie’t Relief BBQ competition Saturday. Lotta Bull BBQ, from Marietta, Okla., was crowned the Grand Champion.
Lotta Bull earned three-second place finishes and one fourth to tally the most points to claim the $1,800 prize. Smoke This, from Newberry, was the Reserve Grand Champion, winning the $800 prize for second place.
Competition in the Kansas City Barbecue Society was in chicken, ribs, pork and brisket. Prize winners, the top five places, earned $400 for first place, $300 for second, $200 for third, $100 for fourth and $75 for fifth.
