District Five Schools
Chris Moss has been selected as the next director of James F. Byrnes Rebel Regiment Band,
Moss, a two-time Byrnes drum major who marched in multiple Rebel Regiment state championship seasons, has spent the last decade as Director of Bands for Pendleton High School and Anderson District Four. Under his direction, the "Pride of Pendleton" marching band won five State Championships, six Upper State Championships, and a Bands of America Class Championship.
District Five Board of Trustees unanimously approved Moss.
The former Rebel began his teaching career at Byrnes, where he served as Assistant Band Director and led the color guard program for nine years under longtime band Director, Phil McIntyre.
Professionally, Moss has served as an Adjudicator for the Bands of America program and Drum Corp International for over a decade.
He earned his Bachelors in Music Education from Florida State University, a Masters in Music Education from Anderson University, and is completing his Doctorate with Boston University.
"I am excited to be returning home to the Byrnes family," Moss said.. "I know from my own time there the amazing experiences District Five provides its students, and I look forward to seeing all we can accomplish together."
Moss begins his duties July 1.
