On Monday, January 30, I had surgery to reverse my “pocketbook” done last June. It was great relief to know they would be able to do this surgery as well as relief when it actually worked! I guess the latter of those falls into the category of “ little faith.” None the less, I was glad when the plumbing did what the surgeon had assured me it would do.
The rest of the journey is to get my strength back as well as my energy. No doubt this will take a few weeks if not months to accomplish, but I am up to the task and intend to get on that within the next few weeks.
I have always enjoyed running and walking and though I am sure my running days are over, I know my walking days are not. Whether it will be around my neighborhood or around a gym, I will get back to the walking and build up my body that has been “at rest” for one year.
I know the best thing I can do for my body is to eat right, get plenty of rest and plenty of exercise. I intend to do all three and hope you will join me in the New Year with a resolution to be healthier and take care of our bodies.
In case you have not had a colonoscopy, despite my encouragement, please make plans to do that right away. Once you know how healthy you are, you can hit the other items with great excitement knowing that you are preventing cancer, not trying to recover from it.
I look forward to seeing you around the Greer area and seeing how great you look! Many thanks for your prayers of support through all of my Bends in the Road.
