Published on Saturday, November 2, 2013

New River Bluegrass has reached the top of the Singing News Bluegrass Chart with its recording “When I Look Back Down The Road”.

The band has seen its song soar to the top since the spring and its 37th ranking. It moved to No. 2 in August when it jumped over perennial award winning “Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver”. They overtook “Are You Prayin’ Hard?” by the Chigger Hill Boys & Terry for No. 1.

The Greer area band members are Barry Long, Michael Johnson, Dwayne Brown, Chuck Price, Michael Mullins, Andy Smith and Long. They recorded the song under the Pisgah Ridge label at Crossroads Music studio in Arden, N.C.

Upstate fans can hear the group Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at a performance at White Oak Baptist Church at 1805 Wade Hampton Blvd., in Greenville. It’s located across the street from Bob Jones University.
