Marsha Lominack Lee, of Greer, SC, died January 28, 2021.
Born March 13, 1946, in Newberry, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Erlene Wheeler Lominack and Edward Kirby Lominack, Sr. of Newberry, S.C.
Mrs. Lee graduated from Newberry High School and Columbia College. She received her master's degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She worked as a teacher for 30 years in Charleston, S.C., Chattanooga, TN., Murfreesboro, TN., Columbia, S.C., and Irmo, S.C. She retired from teaching in 2000.
Mrs. Lee was a longtime member of United Methodist Churches, where she volunteered in various positions. She was also a member of Sunday School Classes, and the United Methodist Women. For the last 10 years she was a member of Memorial UMC in Greer. In addition to her voluntary work at Memorial, for several years Mrs. Lee and her sister had a "Book Bag" ministry for homeless persons.
Mrs. Lee enjoyed activities like yard work, photography, reading, and visiting grandchildren. She was an active member of the PEO, Chapter AE. She and Dennis traveled extensively both before and after retiring, including trips to Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Scotland and many of the U.S. states.
Survivors include her loving husband of 21 years, Rev. Dennis Ray Lee; a son, Christopher Kirby McClure and wife Kimberly of Columbia; Dennis? daughters, Rev. Christy Lee Sharp and husband, Dr. Otto Sharp of Asheville; and Susan Lee Balsinger and husband, Brett Balsinger of Fort Mill.
She and Dennis were blessed with seven grandchildren: Grace and Rollins McClure; Evan, Hunter and Eric Sharp; and Ava and Kade Balsinger.
She is also survived by a sister, Karen Moose and husband Harry E. Moose of Greer, and a brother Edward Kirby Lominack, Jr., MD., and wife, Almena of Greenville; and Dennis' siblings, Wedrell W. Lee and wife Helen of Pinewood, and Joyce Lee Burns and husband Dr. Thomas E. Burns of Greer.
Only members of Mrs. Lee's family will be present in person for the memorial service and celebration of life, which will be held in the Memorial UMC sanctuary at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2021.
The Rev. Gene Aiken and The Rev. George Strait will be leading the service.
Social distancing and the wearing of masks will be observed. Everyone else is invited to watch the service in one of three ways. The service will be live-streamed, which can be accessed by going to YouTube and looking for Memorial UMC Greer, or going to the memorialgreer.com home page and clicking on the link to the service. A drive-by visitation is planned for Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 2 p.m.
Anyone desiring to participate in this brief method of speaking to the family is asked to pull in the church parking lot. An attendant will be present.
In the near future a graveside service will be held at Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry. When a date and time are determined, that information will be posted on the Whitaker Funeral Home website.
