Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Monroe King passed away on June 5 and June 10, 2019, respectfully.
They had been married for sixty two years.
Tom was a graduate of East Tennessee State University where he majored in Physical Education. He was a member of the ETSU football team where he excelled as an offensive guard and defensive tackle.
He had been a member of Army ROTC even in high school. He enlisted in the United States Army after college and he received the rank of Major.
Over the years he taught and coached as well as worked in sales and as a Terminal Manager for Mason and Dixon Trucking, Smith Transfer, Colonial Freight and Overnight Transportation.
He loved raising Angus cattle, judging horse shows and spending time with his family.
Wilma attended East Tennessee State University where she studied Secretarial Science.
For many years she was a secretary and bookkeeper for The School District of Greenville County.
Much of her time was spent working at Simpsonville Elementary and Bryson Middle School.
She also worked at The Biltmore House as a greeter, a job that suited her vivacious personality.
She loved her dogs, going out to eat, fashion, shopping and the beach. She made many of her best friends while living in Poinsettia in Simpsonville, SC. She leaves behind her beloved Korgi Boscoe.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Jay Knox and Ruby Mae Shipp King, his brother, Bill King and his sister, Margaret Selby. Surviving are his sisters, Patsy Norwood of Hendersonville, NC and Betty Mitchell of Bedford, IN.
Wilma was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Josephine Huff Kilgore, her brothers, Jess Ray Shell and James Kilgore and her sisters, Juanita Falin and Cleo Falin.
Tom and Wilma are survived by two daughters, Terry Fant and son-in-law, Allen Fant as well as Cindy Armstrong and son-in-law, Robert Armstrong. They have five loving grandchildren including Carley Nichole Fant of Atlanta, GA, Robert William Armstrong, Jr. of Greer, SC, Thomas Cody Armstrong of San Antonio, TX, J. Wyatt Armstrong and Caitlyn Mae Armstrong of Greer, SC.
A private graveside service will be held in Rock Springs, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Humane Society in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina or Georgia.
